Organisers of Australian Fashion Week have announced American designer Rachel Gossett as the headline act in next year’s festival.
The little known designer rose to prominence this weekend after being arrested in a Waffle House car park in Loganville, Georgia. Following her arrest for having sex in a pick up truck, the arresting officer described that, ‘when the female finally got dressed, she attempted to put a cheeseburger on her foot as if it were a sandal.’
‘Not since Lady Gaga’s ‘Meat Dress,’ has the fashion world been so excited,’ said AFW spokeswoman Megan Gale.
Designer and mirror collector Alex Perry described the signing as a coup for the event, ‘this will really put Australian Fashion Week on the map, he exclaimed, ‘I cannot wait to see what she does with a sausage and bread!’
Gossett is expected to arrive in Australia 6 weeks before the 2014 event and will tour Frankston and Moe in Victoria, Cronulla and Albion Park in NSW, Logan and Ipswich in Queensland and Salisbury in Adelaide as part of her acculturation to Australia. Perry hopes it will provide inspiration for the event, ‘we hope that by Rachel visiting these areas of cultural significance she will be inspired further. I look forward to seeing her interpretations of kebabs, potato cakes and hot dogs, the mind really does boggle!’
